Feb. 25, 2013. We’re counting down to the first birthday of HCPress.com on Friday, March 1, and the winner of our second birthday giveaway is Glenda Hubbard! She was one of several people who “Liked” us between Thursday morning and Friday evening last week and her name was drawn this morning by Steve Steele, owner of SOS Printing. She wins a $100 gift card to Heavenly Touch Massage.

A big thanks to Glenda for “Liking” us and helping us celebrate our birthday and congratulations on your win! To claim your prize, give us a call at 828-264-2262.

You can still help us celebrate by just liking us on Facebook. And when you “Like” us we’ll entered you into one of our birthday giveaways, which will include items such as gift cards to restaurants, salons, massage therapists, cash prizes and more.

For our next birthday giveaway, we’re offering up a free dinner for two courtesy of the Bayou Smokehouse and Grill. Banner Elk’s own Cajun connection serves up authentic Louisiana and Texas cuisine like gumbo, po’ boys, Bayou Smokehouse Ribs, chicken-fried steak with cream gravy, or Texas-style smoked beef brisket barbecue. Barbecue sauce at the Bayou is made in-house and sold in the adjoining Bayou General Store.

“Where else in the High Country can you ‘Laissez les Bons Temps Rouler’ (Let the Good Times Roll),” said Winston Ammann, Bayou Smokehouse co-owner. “Since 2003, Bayou Smokehouse and Grill has offered authentic Texas and Louisiana cuisine. It’s truly genuine because the owner is from Luling, La. and Lamarque, Texas.”

End a delicious Bayou meal as you savor a serving of Mama Nita’s Louisiana Bread Pudding with whiskey sauce. If you enjoy this scrumptious favorite, the folks at the Bayou will be more than happy to give you a copy of Mama Nita’s own recipe.

The Smokehouse also features cocktails, wine and over 75 different beers. And, for those who are technologically inclined, there is also free wifi and NTN BuzzTime trivia.

Our third giveaway works like this. We’ll keep track of our new “Likes” between 10 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 25, through 10 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26 – and will put those names in a hat and pull out a winner. We’ll announce the winner on our website on Wednesday and start another contest for another giveaway for those who like us from Wednesday morning through Thursday evening.

With Friday marking our first birthday, it will also mark the last prize giveaway for new “Likes,” and the final prize will be a gift card to Haircut 101. Next week, we will be offering up some special giveaway prizes for the 2,000-plus people who have been with us on Facebook since the beginning. Stay tuned for that.

Bayou Smokehouse and Grill is located in the center of the Village Shops, at the light in downtown Banner Elk. The restaurant is open seven days a week, year round. Calll 828-898-TxLa (8952) for more information.
