First Friday Art Crawl: Downtown Boone Comes Alive With the February Edition of This Evening Tradition

Feb. 5, 2015. If you’ve been going through Art Crawl withdrawal since the last event last year, fear not! On Friday, Feb. 6, downtown Boone will be taken over by the first Art Crawl of 2015. Like always, this month’s crawl will feature food, drinks and live music with work and exhibitions from local artists. And as usual, everyone is invited to come out and enjoy some Friday night fun. If you’ve never experienced First Friday Art Crawl, here is your chance to get in on what the locals already know! Head on down to downtown Boone and enjoy a Friday night out on the town. Here’s what is happening this month.

Where to Go:

Jones House Community Center
Join us on the first friday of every month from 6:30 – 8:00 pm for the First Friday Art Crawl. Each month the Jones House, along with other downtown Boone galleries, showcases the works of exciting artists. Guests can meet the artists and purchase prints or original pieces. Light refreshments are served. This month’s showcased artists are Peter Grant Catoe in the Mazie Jones Gallery and Paul Heckert in the Upstairs Gallery. For more information, call 828-268-6280.

Shear Shakti
Shear Shakti will be open for Art Crawl until late featuring artist Josiah Cameron. Light refreshments will be served.

The Turchin Center for the Visual Arts
On Friday, Feb. 6, the Turchin Center for the Visual Arts will kick off the first Downtown Boone Art Crawl of 2015 with the opening of three new exhibitions. Like most Art Crawl events, this exhibition celebration will be free and open to the public from 6-10 p.m. For more information, please call 828-262-3017.

Lost Province Brewing Company
Freakin’ Fusion Friday at Five continues with the release of 2 infusion beers at 5 p.m. Live music will be provided by Dave Brewer and Friends. Dave Brewer will be rocking out at Lost Province Brewing Company along with a few other guest musicians with an optional cover charge.

  • Mint Chocolate Chip Porter:  Chocolate Porter through cacao nibs and mint.
  • Blondes on the Beach:  Blonde ale through pineapple and coconut (Pina Colada blonde ale). Live Music:

Art of Oil
Art of Oil, located at 819 W. King Street, will offer tastings of delicious, gourmet olive oils and balsamic vinegars. The tastings will be paired with complementing wines.

Art Walk
Located at 611 West King Street, Art Walk will offer wine and refreshments to guests during the Art Crawl. This is a great place to shop for locally made Valentine’s Day gifts for your loved one. For more information, contact Art Walk at 264-9998.

Old World Galleries
Old World Galleries, located at 697 W. King St will present art by painter Jane Miller showcased alongside Old World Galleries’ stunning jewelry. For more information, contact Old World Galleries at 828-264-6559.

Anna Banana’s
Located at 641 West King Street, Anna Banana’s will offer refreshments and as always, customers can dance for a 10-percent discount on merchandise! For more information, call 828-865-2000.

The Local
The Local will feature live music on Friday night, along with their delicious menu items. The Local is located at 179 Howard St. For more information, call 828-266-2179.
