Sept. 8, 2014. The Banner Elk Chamber of Commerce took third place in a “best chamber office” contest sponsored by The Chamber Executive Network (CEN) newsletter, a 30-year-old publication advising chambers of commerce leaders in the United States and Canada.

The Banner Elk Chamber’s office is located at the stop light in Banner Elk in an historic building which was once a general store called The Village Grocer.

The office is prominently featured in this month’s issue of the newsletter along with several other winners and finalists from across the country.

A newsletter spokesman said judges examined nearly 100 top chamber offices housing both large and small chambers. The informal contest was designed to inspire subscribers by featuring the excellent facilities progressive chambers are able to secure to serve their members, visitors and the general public.

A wide variety of offices were selected, including a “haunted” chamber office in Indiana, a modern “log cabin” type building in Wisconsin and several other historic offices, such as remodeled railroad depot buildings in Iowa and Oklahoma.

The Banner Elk Chamber of Commerce has members from all over the High Country and many report that the prominent location in Banner Elk is one of the best benefits of membership.
