June 18, 2012. Live music, fun activities and a free T-shirt with a $25 meal purchase are part of F.A.R.M. Cafe’s official Grand Opening event Saturday, June 23, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The non-profit restaurant, which stands for Feed All Regardless of Means, is located at 617 W. King Street in the Boone Drug building across from Mast General Store.
The day features music by The Dashboard Hula Boys from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and the Horn in the West singers at 1:30 p.m. A ribbon cutting will open the festivities.
As part of the celebration, patrons who purchase a large lunch plate for $25 will receive a free F.A.R.M. Cafe T-shirt.
F.A.R.M. Cafe’s mission is to build a healthy and inclusive community by providing high quality and delicious meals produced from local sources whenever possible, served in a restaurant where everybody eats regardless of their ability to pay. The cafe opened in May and operates primarily with volunteers. It is based on the One World Everybody Eats business model designed to help relieve hunger at the local level. The model began with one restaurant in Salt Lake City, Utah and has led to more than 25 successful start-ups across the country.
