Dine Out to Support the Blue Ridge Parkway June 16-19 With the Third Annual Plates for the Parkway Event

June 10, 2014. The Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation is pleased to announce the third annual Plates for the Parkway set for June 16-19. During this week, people in the High Country and other communities along the Parkway and Beyond can dine out at one of nearly 80 participating restaurants, breweries, coffeehouses and more, all who will donate a portion of their sales to the Foundation.

“Dining out at one of these businesses during the week will have a direct impact on the future of the Blue Ridge Parkway,” said Christy Bell, Director of Development for the foundation.

“It’s an easy and fun way to give back to our beautiful park.”

Additionally, businesses from communities including Charlotte Roanoke, Asheville, Floyd, Winston-Salem and Luray are participating. All proceeds benefit the Foundation’s funding to the Blue Ridge Parkway, which includes a host of projects that protect the environment, beauty and character of the Blue Ridge Parkway. These projects include renovations at Mabry Mill, programming at the Blue Ridge Music Center, improvements to Graveyard Fields and updates to the Price Lake Trail.

Founded in 1997, the Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation is the primary fundraising partner for the Parkway. It works closely with the National Park Service to identify special places along the Parkway that have a critical need. Through events like Plates for the Parkway, the Foundation provides local businesses and individuals a fun way to participate and “give back” to the Blue Ridge Parkway.

“The Parkway consistently ranks as a significant contributor to the economy and enjoyment of the people in our region,” Bell said.

“Your participation is needed and appreciated. Everyone who loves the Parkway should support these fantastic restaurants not only this week, but all year knowing that they are great community members who are doing their part to protect the Parkway.”
