Stop by the chamber office and help honor a celebrated local leader this Friday, June 10, which will officially be known as Dan Meyer Day.

Proclaimed by Boone Mayor Rennie Brantz, Dan Meyer Day will be an opportunity to honor the impact and involvement in the High Country of Boone Area Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Dan Meyer, who will soon retire after 12 years in the role.

Community members are welcome and encouraged to stop by the chamber office between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Friday to say hello and share a few kind words with the beloved Meyer, who announced his retirement in early April.

What was originally planned as an open house for the chamber has co-opted as an occasion to honor Meyer and all that he has done for the community. The chamber office will also be celebrating it’s third year anniversary in the newest location.

Meyer says he looks forward to members of the community coming by so he can say hello to them, but also so they can see the chamber at work.

“It’s all about the chamber, really, and to let them see what the facility is and thank them for their partnership with the chamber,” Meyer said.

Barbara Armstrong, the chamber’s director of operations, said she hopes many people will come and visit with Meyer.

“Dan is very well known and loved by the whole community,” Armstrong said. “There are lots of things he has done that have made big differences in the High Country, and we certainly want to honor him.”

Cookies and light refreshments will be provided.

The chamber office is located at 870 W. King St., Suite A.
