Closed for Christmas; Check Out This Compilation of High Country Holiday Closings This Year

Dec. 24, 2013. Can you believe it? Christmas is officially less than a week away! And with Christmas, of course, comes holiday closings of many area businesses to allow employees to celebrate as well. Check out our listing of businesses and services that will be closed for Christmas to make sure you aren’t caught unawares. 

Banks

  • The High Country Bank will be closed at 2 p.m. on Christmas Eve through Christmas Day.
  • PNC Bank will be closed at 2 p.m. on Christmas Eve through Christmas Day. 
  • BB&T will be closed on Christmas Eve starting at 2 p.m. through Christmas Day.
  • State Employee’s Credit Union will be closed Tuesday, Dec. 24, Christmas Day and Thursday, Dec. 26 for Christmas.

Libraries

  • The Watauga County library will be closed on Tuesday, Dec. 24, Wednesday, Dec. 25 and Thursday, Dec. 26 for the Christmas Holiday. We will close at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 31 and we will be closed on Wednesday, Jan. 1 for New Year’s Day.
  • The Blowing Rock Library will be closed Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Dec. 26. 
  • The Wilkes County Public Library will be closed Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Dec. 26

Public Works

  • The Watauga County Sanitation Department and all Convenience Centers will be closed Tuesday, Dec. 24 and Wednesday, Dec. 25. The Sanitation Department and all Convenience Centers will be open on Thursday, Dec. 26. 
  • The Boone Chamber of Commerce will be closed for Christmas
  • The Blowing Rock Chamber of Commerce will be closed for Christmas
  • The Boone Mall will close at 6 p.m. on Christmas Eve 

Post Offices

  • Post offices will remain open until noon on Christmas Eve and be closed on Christmas. 

Schools

  • Avery County Schools will be closed Dec. 23 through Jan. 1 for the holiday break
  • Watauga County Schools will be closed Dec. 23 through Jan 3 for the holiday break
  • Wilkes County Schools will be closed Dec. 23 through Jan. 3 for the holiday break
