Aug. 23, 2012. Katie Woodle has been named Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for Blue Ridge Electric Membership Corporation, a member-owned electric cooperative serving some 74,000 consumers in northwest North Carolina with its corporate headquarters in Lenoir.
Woodle, a native of Alleghany County, has served as chief financial officer of Alleghany Memorial Hospital in Sparta, North Carolina, since 2006. Before that, she worked for six years in the accounting department at Alleghany Memorial. Woodle also completed an internship at Ernst and Young, LLP.
“We have been searching for the past three months to fill this position because our current SVP/CFO Lee Chase will be retiring at the end of March, 2013,” said Doug Johnson, chief executive officer of Blue Ridge Electric. “We’re very pleased we’ve been able to find such strong talent and expertise right here in northwest North Carolina. Plus we are very excited that Katie is a graduate of the Walker College of Business at Appalachian State.”
Woodle’s responsibilities at Blue Ridge Electric will also include serving as CFO for the cooperative’s subsidiaries: Blue Ridge Energies, a heating fuels and propane provider with product showrooms in each Blue Ridge Electric district office, and RidgeLink, a business-to-business provider of fiber optic network capacity.
Woodle holds a Master’s degree in Accounting and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, with an Accounting Major from Appalachian State University. She is a Certified Public Accountant in North Carolina.
She and her husband, Greg, are members of Laurel Springs Baptist Church in Alleghany County.
Woodle will begin her duties at Blue Ridge Electric on October 22nd.
