Nov. 30, 2012. Chetola Resort in Blowing Rock is the place to go to see Christmas Lights in the High Country. A drive through the resort reveals over 50,000 lights on display and the lights will stay on until Jan. 27, 2013.

Chetola lit up the resort on Nov. 23 and already droves of High Country locals and visitors alike have visited to enjoy the spectacular display.

“The lights attract a lot of people and also, you can see them from many different vantage points around the town of Blowing Rock,” said Zak Linkins, Chetola concierge.

Linkins said the resort has been doing the Festival of Lights since 1989 and they became so popular that the Town of Blowing Rock gave them a special honor for them.

“It’s funny, the Town of Blowing Rock would give out an award for the best Christmas lights and we would consistently win it to the point that finally the town basically gave us a lifetime achievement award for lights,” Linkins said with a laugh.

There is no cost for admission to visit Chetola and see the elaborate display and everyone is invited to come check them out.
