June 2, 2014. On Thursday, June 5, The Avery County Chamber of Commerce will host the fourth annual Taste of Avery event. This year’s event will be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the Best Western on N.C. 184 in Banner Elk.
The Taste of Avery annual event showcases a sampling of many restaurants, catering services, breweries, dairies and other culinary businesses throughout Avery County.
“Every great community has a great food event and Avery County is no exception,” said Sue Freeman, Executive Director of the Avery County Chamber of Commerce.
“It allows people to explore new opportunities. Even if you came last year, you’ll find something different.”
The event will feature indoor and outdoor seating with live music performed by Steve Fearey. In addition, there will be a cash bar selling wine and beer from local Linville Falls Winery, Plumtree Vineyards, Grandfather Vineyard and Blind Squirrel Brewery .
The price of admission is $25 for an advance ticket and $30 for a ticket at the door. To purchase an advance ticket, contact the Avery County Chamber of Commerce at 828-898-5605 or visit the Chamber office in the Shoppes of Tynecastle at the intersection of N.C. 184 and N.C. 105. Office hours are from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.
More than 20 businesses are participating this year, bringing a varied and eclectic mix of food and drink that will satisfy every palate.

English Farmstead Cheese, local farm fresh cheese producers
Famous Fast Eddies, barbeque, grill and catering service
Eat Crow Cafe & Bakery, fine bakery and restaurant
Carolina Barbeque, North Carolina barbeque restaurant and catering service
Beech Mountain Beekeeping, local beekeepers and honey producers
The Pedalin’ Pig, Inc., North Carolina barbeque restaurant
The Inn at Crestwood, fine dining
Cam Ranh Bay, authentic Vietnamese and Japanese cuisine
Sorrento’s Italian Restaurant, Italian cuisine
The event has been widely popular in its three years running, selling out every year, so the Chamber advises purchasing advance tickets as soon as possible.
