CarRentals.com Names Boone to Its List of the 25 Best Small Towns in the Country

By Bailey Faulkner

While it may not come as a shock to residents and frequent visitors of the High Country, CarRentals.com, part of Expedia, Inc., recently named Boone to its list of “25 Best Small Towns in the Country.” The site used several factors to arrive at the final list, which includes small towns from all around the country.

The site specifically considered each town’s potential to be “postcard beautiful,” to have “historical significance” and to offer “must-eat restaurants.” While each of the cities on the list made the final cut for various reasons, the site states “all are worth the drive.”

Wondering what the list had to say about our small town in the High Country? The site cites “great skiing in the winter and great gardens in the summer” as the leading reasons for taking a trip to Boone. The site adds that Boone’s “location in the Blue Ridge Mountains makes it an active person’s dreamland.”

The list also suggested taking a stroll through the Daniel Boone Native Gardens and eating a “fat cheeseburger” washed down by a “cold beer” at Boone Saloon while visiting the city. CarRentals.com also gives advice on the optimal time to visit Boone: “Go during the winter and hit the slopes at Sugar Mountain Resort.”

While the list doesn’t scratch the surface of the fun year-round activities in Boone and the surrounding towns, being recognized as one of the top 25 best small towns in the nation is always nice!

Other small towns that made the list include Alpine, Texas; Sedona, Arizona; Whitefish, Montana; Grafton, Vermont and many others.
