Nov. 5, 2013. The greatest and best event for the High Country, Peabody’s annual WINExpo was unfortunately canceled due to permit issues with North Carolina ABC.
“The Turchin Center for the Visual Arts applied for a special one-time permit with the ABC Commission on October 1, 2013. During the process of application, the TCVA representative spoke with a staff member at the ABC Commission to review the submission and discuss the details of the event. After reviewing the application, with the additional information collected during conversations about the event, the ABC Commission denied the permit because the nature of the event did not allow the TCVA to be the permitted agency.”
With only a couple of weeks to plan another avenue and adhere to ABC compliance, we could not pull together an event worthy of our friends, loyal patrons and vendors.
That said, for all local attendees with tickets already purchased, please come to Peabody’s with ticket in hand for store credit or a full refund. For all of friends from off the mountain please contact Peabody’s at 828 264-9476 with ticket number ready for an over the phone compensation.
This is one of most regrettable and saddest announcements made here at Peabody’s. We apologize for any inconvenience and urge any and all of you to pass this email and information on to anyone you might know who bought tickets and may not receive the news.
Peabody’s will continue to work with the Turchin Center for the Visual Arts and the ABC Commission to see what we can do to bring this event back either in the Spring of for next year. We will keep you posted and hope that we will have your continued support. Thank You.
