BRAHM Plans Family-Friendly Holiday Event

Nov. 26, 2012. The Blowing Rock Art & History Museum invites the community to warm up and kick-off the holiday season on Dec. 1 from 12 until 3 p.m. The holiday open house will be a free event held at the Museum. Festivities include ornament making, storytelling, cookie decorating, music, a silent auction, refreshments and an unveiling of a special gift to the community. The galleries will also be open free of charge.

Visitors will be able to see the latest exhibit at BRAHM, the 2012 traveling exhibit from the Watercolor Society of North Carolina, which opens this week on Thursday, Nov. 29. Children will have the opportunity to decorate holiday cookies and create Christmas ornaments to take home. A painting by Elliott Daingerfield depicting the Virgin Mary holding the Christ Child, often referred to as The Holy Family Tondo, will be unveiled in the atrium as the Middle School ensemble and Koinonia children’s choirs from Rumple Memorial Presbyterian serenade guests.

Other holiday activities will take place throughout the museum, including a silent auction of live wreaths decorated by local artists, designers, and store owners.
