Feb. 10, 2015. The RadioShack Corporation recently published a list of 1,784 stores that could potentially close by the end of March on its website.

The local RadioShack in the Boone Mall didn’t make the list, so it will be open for the foreseeable future.

On Feb. 5, the RadioShack Corporation also announced that General Wireless, an affiliate of Standard General, has agreed to purchase between 1,500 and 2,400 company-owned RadioShack stores in the U.S.

In addition, General Wireless announced that it is partnering with Sprint to establish “a new dedicated mobility ‘store within a store’ retail presence in up to 1,750 of the acquired stores.”

These stores will be rebranded as Sprint-RadioShack stores, according to the Harvard Business Review.

In all RadioShack owns about 4,000 stores in the U.S. that are affected by the company’s bankruptcy.

“Discussions are underway with interested parties to sell all of the company’s remaining assets,” according to a press release from RadioShack Corporation.

RadioShack CEO Joe Magnacca said, “These steps are the culmination of a thorough process intended to drive maximum value for our stakeholders.”

A member of media relations for RadioShack said that the company couldn’t “speculate on stores not listed for closure at this time” when asked about the possibility of the Boone location becoming a Sprint-RadioShack store.
