Aug. 13, 2013. The 7th annual Charity Golf Tournament, hosted at the Boone Golf Club, will be held on Thursday, Aug. 15 with shotgun starts at 8:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
The tournament is a 4-man captain’s choice, with a $125 entry fee per player. This fee includes greens and cart fee, mulligans, lunch and dinner provided by Casa Rustica Restaurant as well as a raffle ticket for various donated items.
“We have everything from a teeth cleaning and dental x-rays to flood damage restoration,” said Rick Pedroni of Casa Rustica Restaurant.
All proceeds from the tournament will go to benefit the High Country Caregiver Foundation and Blowing Rock C.A.R.E.S.
“The last two years, we have supported High Country Caregivers because they are such a good organization and we are also helping Blowing Rock C.A.R.E.S.,” Pedroni said.
“We can touch so many people in so many different ways by supporting these organizations. We have done a lot of things over the years, and I feel like this way we can cover more ground to help these organizations.”
Since the early 2000’s Rick and his wife, Elizabeth, have been deeply involved with charity work in the High Country.
“My wife and I did a spaghetti dinner to benefit the victims of Hurricane Katrina,” Pedroni said. “We noticed that people really came together when it meant helping other people.”
After their initial experience with helping to raise money for others, the Pedroni’s kept moving forward, eventually leading to the annual Charity Golf Tournament that has been a High Country tradition for seven years.
“We really enjoy helping people. It’s an outlet for us to do something that we enjoy while giving back to the community. We saw so many people like us in the community that wanted to help out but didn’t know what to do. This is a great avenue for people to help when all they have to do is play a round of golf.”
Don’t like to play golf? There are plenty of other opportunities for non-golfers to help out and support the cause. Volunteers are always needed to help keep things moving smoothly at the event. Another option is sponsorships.
“We have sponsor levels starting at $100 and going all the way up to $2,000,” Pedroni said.
Sponsorships include banner sponsorships, access to goodie bags, hole sponsorships and more.
Registration is still open for the event, and both start times are still available. Complete a registration form today to get in on the fun and support a very worthy cause.
