Boone Bowling Center on the Market for $1.8M, Nearly 30 Years After Couple From Curacao Purchased Business

By Jesse Wood

Sept. 6, 2013. The Boone Bowling Center is on the market after nearly 30 years since Mario and Diana Perret-Gentil bought the business that is located on Boone Heights Drive.

BooneBowlingCenterIn 1984, the couple moved from Curacao, a Dutch island in the Carribean, because it wasn’t a safe place to raise kids and decided to live in Boone because Mario loved the mountains, Diana said.

Initially armed with an investor’s visa, the couple searched for a business to purchase. They looked at Granny’s Donuts near the Boone Mall and Christmas Creations on N.C. 105, but the couple settled on the Boone Bowling Center because Mario liked sports and Diana didn’t necessarily want to listen to Christmas music all year round.

Roger Wright of Wright Properties is the listing agent. The 13,000-square-foot bowling center is listed at $1.8 million for the business, building and nearly one acres of land. To purchase the business and lease the land from the owners, the business costs $749,000. To purchase the building and the land, it costs $1.2 million.

Diana said the couple is ready to retire after running the bowling alley for 29 years and earning enough to put two kids through college.

“It’s time for younger people to take it over,” Diana said, adding that business is going well.
