Get into the holiday spirit with Boone Area Chamber of Commerce at its December Business After Hours event at the Boone Mall from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 3.

Designed to promote networking and a stronger business community, the chamber’s after hours events often feature opportunities for local entrepreneurs and small business owners to connect and get to know each other. Thursday’s event at the Boone mall will give you a chance to meet the folks behind the area’s local establishments and celebrate the season in style.

Enjoy cookies and other great refreshments, along with special dance performances by the Carolina Snowbelles, Christmas caroling and music by the Watauga Community Band and the Holy Cross Handbell Choir.

“It’s family friendly and open to everyone. We’ve got some really exciting things going on,” said Boone Chamber Director of Operations Barbara Armstrong. “Six of our members will have tables set up and will be giving away food and drinks. We’re going to have coffee, cookies, hot apple cider and a sampling of all kinds of holiday foods.”

The chamber will also be announcing and distributing its annual Architectural Awards.

While you’re at the mall, sit with Santa Claus! Tell him what you want for Christmas and let the photography pros from Boone Portraits capture the moment for you. Photos will be available for purchase within 5-10 minutes. You will not be permitted to take photos with Santa from your own camera or smartphone. Enjoy the library’s Story Walk and read Snow, a popular children’s book, with your family as you stroll through the mall.

“The after hours event will have cookies, caroling, the Community Band and more. This is the second year the chamber has hosted its Christmas event here, and we also host its annual expo here every year,” said Mall Manager Meredith Golden. “It’s a good, central location and it’s a fun place to be.”

Subway, Appalachia Cookie Company, Lowes Foods, Bald Guy Brew, Stick Boy Bread Co., Gadabouts Catering and Primo’s will sponsor the event and provide refreshments.
