Friends and neighbors convened at Graystone Eye’s new facility in Boone for a ribbon cutting hosted by the Boone Area Chamber of Commerce on Monday afternoon.

David Jackson, the chamber’s new president and CEO, spoke to the value and significance behind the ribbon-cutting tradition:

“It shows businesses are flourishing. They’re either coming to town, which is great for local business, or, in some cases, they’re celebrating grand re-openings or they’ve outgrown their space and they’re looking for new space,” he said. “It highlights the fact that business is going well and it gives the businesses that have relocated or are just starting an opportunity to showcase themselves. When you get a lot of excited folks in the community out for an event like this I think that will only generate excitement about the new business itself.”

The new building is located along N.C. Highway 105 across from the Highland Commons shopping center in Boone and puts the practice’s two former Boone and Linville locations under one roof.

Graystone Eye’s CEO Sheree Watson said the ribbon cutting represents a bright future of enhanced service for patients in the High Country.

“You know, we had an office in Linville that was only able to cover one day a week, and then we had an office here. By consolidating, it lets our Avery County folks have ease of access and get five days of full service,” said Watson. “We’re very excited to be able to provide that for them, because we were not able to do that before. The facility lets us do that.

“It was designed by an architectural firm that has a division that only designs ophthalmic offices and surgery centers. They know what every technician does, what every surgeon does and what every piece of equipment is for. This space is designed specifically for our patients to be able to move through smoothly and efficiently and in a warm, aesthetic environment so we can really take great care of them. That’s what we’re here for–to take great care of our patients. We’re very excited to be here and to have the facility that we need to support that.”

The new 25,000 square foot facility, the upper half of which will soon house Fresenius Kidney Care, was completed in late August.

Graystone’s new office opened for business on Monday, Aug. 29 and will host a grand opening celebration that’s open to the public on Sept. 29.
