Blowing Rock Community Foundation Presents the First Annual Blowing Rock Social Stroll on Sept. 6 at 5 p.m.

Sept. 5, 2013. The Blowing Rock Community Foundation presents the first annual Blowing Rock Social Stroll on Friday, Sept. 6 at 5-7 p.m. at Blowing Rock Park. 

The stroll itself will begin at 6 p.m. behind Blowing Rock Park, and costs $10 for individuals and $20 for families including up to four people . The cost includes a water bottle favor.

-1Starting at 5 p.m. the social will include a fun day in the park for the entire family, including a bounce house, face painting and more. 

“We wanted to bring attention to our organization and get people more familiar with what we do for our community,” said Kim McDonald, chair for the event. 

“We want to focus on families and children in our community with this inaugural event.”

The stroll is family friendly and leashed dogs are welcome as well.

“The stroll will begin behind the park at 6 p.m. and go up Mayview, up to the Sunset Walk and come back down. You can walk, jog, bring your dog and your strollers!” McDonald said. 

The Blowing Rock Community Foundation is an organization that works to award scholarships and grants to the Blowing Rock Community. They are the same organization behind the ever popular Groovy Nights event. The organization, which has been around for 27 years, has given $430,000 in grants and $394,000 in scholarships over the years of its existence. The foundation raised $103,000 in 2012 alone, which will account for eight upcoming freshman scholarships given this year.
