Beech Mountain Resort Announces 2013-14 Season Opening Day Scheduled for Nov. 29, Weather Permitting

by Madison V. Fisler

Nov. 20, 2013. Beech Mountain Resort announced this morning that the opening day for the 2013-14 season will be Nov. 29.

From Beech Mountain Resort:

Our projected opening is contingent upon the weather, therefore it is subject to change.

Snowmaking is now possible once again at Beech Mountain because of consistent freezing temperatures, cooperative humidity levels and other factors that contribute to the successful snowmaking efforts before the opening of the popular resort.

“We were able to make a pretty substantial amount of snow last week,” said Talia Freeman of Beech Mountain Resort.

“Temperatures dropped late Monday night and we were able to begin snowmaking again.”

Opening day for Beech Mountain Resort will include “Opening Weekend Specials” including a ski and stay package for $82 per person including two nights of lodging and a lift ticket for the ski lifts.

“As far as slopes are concerned, we plan on being open from top to bottom,” said Freeman.

As of press time, it is currently 31 degrees at Beech Mountain with snowmaking efforts continuing. Temperatures are expected to continue to stay below freezing in the area, even dipping into the lower teens over the weekend.
