Beech Mountain Chamber’s Mile High Music Fest at Beech Mountain Resort on Sept. 8 a Massive Success

by Madison V. Fisler

Sept. 9, 2013. On Sept. 8, the Beech Mountain Chamber of Commerce’s first ever Mile High Music Fest took place at scenic Beech Mountain Resort. The inaugural event was a massive success, drawing hundreds of people from all over to enjoy the beautiful weather and the great music provided by Randy Houser, Donna the Buffalo and Sons of Bluegrass.

The wide range of music, fantastic weather, and the natural amphitheater at Beech Mountain Resort provided by the beautiful ski slopes made for a fantastic day of music and fun. Hundreds of people turned out for the event toting blankets and lawn chairs, and entire families came along for a great time.

“We were so pleased with the wonderful weather and the great crowd,” said Kate Gavenous, director of the Beech Mountain Area Chamber of Commerce.

“It was our first year with the music fest, and we were really excited about how it turned out.”

This event served as a test to see if music festivals would work well in the venue and to test the waters for an annual Mile High Music Fest to be held each year on the slopes of Beech Mountain Resort.

“This seems like something that we could hope to do every year,” Gavenous said.

“It’s a really great idea, and such a great venue with the natural amphitheater effect of being on the slopes. We were blessed with such excellent weather and everyone seemed to have a great time. We will definitely consider doing this again next year.”
