Known for its fun and friendly approach to the fashion world, one local shop once again offers its customers a chance to stop by the store, kick back and have a good time.

Located at the Shoppes of Tynecastle in Banner, The Dande Lion offers a wide variety of “downplayed dressy and upscale casual,” according to owner Jane Deavers. Shoppers also enjoy great gifts and a unique shopping experience.

Now that the store is in its third location and its 18th year of business in the area, Deaver said it’s time to celebrate.

“It’s amazing. We’re blessed, you know,” Deavers said. “We love being here and some of our customers have been coming from the day we opened up. It’s hard to believe that it’s been 18 years, and we are very grateful to everyone.”

In honor of the Dande Lion’s anniversary, shoppers can enjoy 20 percent off items storewide (excluding Brighton) between Thursday and Sunday.

For even more fun, stop by the store during business hours (between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.) on Thursday and Friday to join in on the store’s two-day lounge party.

This celebration of the shop’s latest lounge lines was inspired by Olivia Pope, the fictional female powerhouse and lead character in the hit TV series Scandal.

Still donning the latest styles, the always-fashionable Pope is often pictured in her home enjoying popcorn and an oversized glass of wine in a moment of respite from her busy life as a high profile lawyer and crisis manager.

Deavers and her staff hope to capture the essence of the Pope’s sophisticated at-home style with the lounge party. If you plan to join in the fun, expect to enjoy Bellini cocktails and muffins in the morning and popcorn and wine in the afternoon.

Staff members will model the upscale “crib clothes” found in the store’s newest lounge wear lines, including “Barefoot Dreams.”

“Lounge wear is about the after 5 o’clock where you go home and you just get comfortable. It’s not sweatpants and jeans anymore — it’s silk and satin and luxurious fibers and being casual, comfortable and elegant,” Deavers said. “There’s been a shift in the way people live their lives and we have also made a shift over the 18 years. We understand that it’s not so much cocktail dresses anymore and it’s a little more casual and informal, and we always listen to our customers.”

The Dande Lion offers 3,000 square feet of women’s wear, accessories, jewelry, shoes, handbags and more.

Deavers and her staff are also committed to giving back in many different ways. To learn more about the store or its work in the community, call 828-898-3566 or stop by at 4501 Tynecastle Highway.
