June 24, 2013. The Banner Elk Chamber of Commerce’s Third Summer Concert in the Park will be on Thursday, July 4.
The concert starts at 6:30 p.m. at the Tate-Evans Town Park stage behind Bank of America on Highway 194.
Bring your chairs or blanket and a cooler. Food will also be available for purchase at the concert. Friendly dogs are welcomed as long as they are on a leash. Raffle tickets can be purchased for prizes as well as for a cash drawing, and admission to the concert is free.
The Neighbors band has been performing regularly for the past 15 years. Beginning at picking sessions in each others’ homes, the band has grown from these informal performances into regional prominence. The band has performed on local television shows, syndicated, and internet radio.
The band has performed in the Bronzewound Showcase at the IBMA Convention in Nashville and for each of the past five years at Merlefest. The Neighbors has provided the music for “Miracle on the Mountain” in Crossnore since the play began.
Traditional and modern bluegrass with a bit of rock and roll and spontaneous comedy thrown in is typical of a performance by The Neighbors. The band prides itself on the entertainment value it provides any audience. All members of the band are multi-instrumentalists and the band draws on an extensive mix of material to pull listeners into an intimate and personal entertainment experience. The music will touch the mind, heart and soul as well as the funny bone.
