June 18, 2013. The Banner Elk Chamber of Commerce along with the Town of Banner Elk will host the annual 4th of July Parade on Thursday, July 4, at 11 a.m.
The Banner Elk Chamber of Commerce 4th of July Parade Committee is issuing an open call to all organizations, institutions and individuals who wish to be a part of this year’s parade. The Parade will proceed from Lees-McRae College to Tate-Evans Park in Banner Elk.
Interested parade participants to not need to pre-register but should follow directional signage on the morning of the parade. Parade line up begins at 10 a.m.
In recognition of the Centennial Celebration of Grandfather Home for Children and his thirty years of service, CEO Jim Swinkola has been selected as this year’s Grand Marshall.
The 4th of July festivities will continue after the parade with the annual “Party in the Park” at Tate Evans Park in downtown Banner Elk, hosted by the Banner Elk Kiwanis and the Town of Banner Elk.
The celebration will include food vendors, children’s games and the 4th annual “Great American Duck Races.” Tickets to sponsor a duck in the race can be obtained from any Banner Elk Kiwanis member of may be purchased at the park on July 4. Tickets are $5 each or five for $20.
