Aug. 23, 2012. The Avery County Chamber of Commerce presents the 2012 Business Expo on Tuesday, Aug. 28, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Chapman Center in the Williams YMCA of Avery County in Linville.
“It’s a great way to network for all the businesses with each other as well as with the attendees who come in,” said Kristyn Adkins, event coordinator with the Avery County Chamber of Commerce.
This year’s expo will be focusing heavily on small businesses and home-based businesses. Adkins said the expo has been held for many years, but that this is the first year focus will be so strong on those types of businesses.
“What we’re trying to do is bring in the small businesses and home-based businesses to really promote that area of the economy of the county,” she said.
Around 30 businesses are expected to be on hand at the expo, and Adkins said applications are still coming in so it could potentially be more. A fee of $30 for Chamber member businesses or $35 for non-members is required to register and only one representative per business is allowed.
The Chamber is expecting approximately 150 to 200 attendees this year. Adkins said this is likely to be a better turnout than in years past.
The Williams YMCA is located at 436 Hospital Drive, Linville.
