July 9, 2013. As part of the U.S. 321 widening project in Blowing Rock, water will be shut off from the Blowing Rock Fire Station on Wednesday, July 10, from 10 a.m. until about 1 p.m., according to a release from the N.C. Department of Transportation.
Stillwell Enterprises Inc. will tie in the new 12-inch water line to the town’s water system at the entrance to Twigs Restaurant and Bar. Along with Twigs, the ABC store and the Royal Oaks condominiums will be affected.
Phillip Bruch, general manager of Twigs, said “luckily” the installation of the water line is happening during non-working hours. Twigs opens at 5:30 p.m.
“It won’t affect us too much,” Bruch said. “Had it been in normal operating hours, it would have, especially since they only gave us less than one day’s notice.”
