Nov. 13, 2013. Have you ever had a late night study session, a nighttime dinner or other late-night activity and craved something sweet? Many delivery services in the area offer pizza, dinner and even sandwiches up for delivery, but what if you’re looking to curb your sweet tooth?
Appalachia Cookie Company, slated to open next week, has the answer.
Conceived by Appalachian State University senior David Holloman two years ago, the late-night cookie delivery business is looking to open its doors and start delivering to hungry nocturnal noshers next week.
“I am going to be graduating soon and I was thinking about what I wanted to do for income, and I knew I wanted to do something fun,” said Holloman of his inspiration for the cookie company.
“I saw an opportunity in Boone for a business like this, cookies are easy and delicious and between the school and community I have had a lot of interest.”
But these cookies are not just your simple, run of the mill cookies. These cookies are homemade from recipes adapted by Holloman himself into delectable creations like white chocolate cranberry walnut, molasses, and even the Yosef, which includes coconut, chocolate chips, oats, pecans and is vegan and gluten free, just to name a few.
And Holloman isn’t stopping at just cookies.
“We are also offering homemade brownies, hot chocolate and milk for delivery.”
Holloman, who is graduating in December from Appalachian State University, double-majored in marketing and management, with double-minors in supply-chain management and sustainable development.
Holloman is even looking at catering for events and cookie cakes for celebrations.
The company is also looking at collaborating with businesses and nonprofits to help with fundraising efforts in the High Country and support the local economy.
“I think people love to support local ventures,” Holloman said of the support he has received from the community.
“It’s a fun thing, and people seem to want to be a part of it. Our biggest worry right now is that demand will outpace our supply, and that is one of the best worries a business owner can have. We have had help from people all around the community, even other businesses that do baked goods. Its nice to be supportive of local businesses and to be supported in turn.”
Appalachia Cookie Co. has high hopes to open next week and begin delivering delectable delights to the nocturnal noshers of the Boone area. Cookies are baked to order and delivered right to your door after orders are placed either online or by phone.
In the days leading up to the grand opening of the cookie courier, Holloman expresses nothing but excitement.
“I am so excited to get this up and running. I think it will be a good thing, for me and for the community.”
