Appalachian Mountain Brewery and High Gravity Adventures have teamed up to host the Mountain Ninja Warrior competition, a fundraiser based on the television series, “American Ninja Warrior,” which will be held on Saturday, Aug. 20. Compete to show your skills from noon to 5 p.m. or stop by to see it in action from 6-9 p.m.
“American Ninja Warrior” features top athletes competing against one another to tackle extreme obstacle challenges. Local residents will give it a shot on the ropes course at HGA during Mountain Ninja Warrior for a good cause.

Danny Wilcox, the direcor of retail operations at AMB, says the competition aims to, “bring multiple communities together and to raise money for the local nonprofit organizations in the high country.”
AMB, which has experience with philanthropic work in the High Country, chose to partner up with HGA to create this unique event.
Eight local companies, chosen by AMB and HGA, will compete on behalf of a local nonprofit organization of their choice. The public is encouraged to donate money toward participating teams prior to the event, and all proceeds will be donated to the company’s partner organization.
With each $100 raised, that team receives a one second advantage. The company and nonprofit teams have chosen one male and one female competitor to represent the team in the course.
Participants include:
- Chetola Resort – Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation
- Appalachian Ski Mountain – Appalachian Ski Patrol
- Appalachia Cookie Company – Hunger and Health Coalition of Boone
- High Country Jewelry – Middle Fork Greenway
- Triple Crown Bouldering Series – Carolina Climbers Coalition
- Mountain Times – Special Olympics of Watauga County
- Center 45 – HIgh Country Local First
- ASU Athletics – Kay Yow Cancer Fund
