July 3, 2013. Beech Mountain’s third annual Bikes, Brews ‘n’ Views weekend expands into a three day event this summer and will be headlined by Acoustic Syndicate.
The festival runs July 19-21 and celebrates the growing mountain biking scene at Beech Mountain Resort with a mix of live music, biking, beer tasting, scenic views and a hash run.
The fun starts Friday evening, July 19, with a concert featuring Acoustic Syndicate, one of Western North Carolina’s most popular rock/folk/bluegrass bands. The concert begins with opening act Melissa Reaves at 7:30 p.m., followed by Acoustic Syndicate at 8:30 p.m.
Saturday’s activities are anchored by the beer fest, which runs from 3-7 p.m. Attendees can sample more than 45 regional a
nd national craft brews while listening to a three-band lineup of: Brushfire Stankgrass (3 p.m.), the Broadcast (4 p.m.) and Zach Deputy (5 p.m.).
Monster Energy Series hosts dual slalom mountain bike races throughout the afternoon, while attendees may also loa
d their personal bikes on the chairlift and spend the day riding Beech Mountain Resort’s new downhill trails.
A disc golf tourney also takes place Saturday morning on the resort’s new 18-hole course, while the Oskar Blues 5K Hash Run combines running and brews at 1 p.m.
Saturday’s festivities conclude with more live music during the official after party in the Beech Tree Bar and Grill.
On Sunday, there’s more biking competition with Monster Energy Series downhill races.
“Bikes, Brews ‘n’ Views serves as the official grand opening of Beech Mountain Resort’s mountain biking park, lift access sy
stem and disc golf course,” says director of marketing Talia Freeman. “We’ve packed a ton of fun into three days. It will be our biggest weekend of summer.”
In addition to the other activities, there will also be an outdoor expo area, mountain bike rentals and demos, a children’s fun area and a Sunday bike rodeo for kids.
Tickets for Friday evening’s concerts are $8, while tickets for Saturday’s beer fest are $25. Children age 12 and under are admitted Friday and Saturday at no charge. A weekend pass is available for $30 and provides admission into all events, plus free parking.
