March 6, 2014. On Sunday, March 2, the ACES High Country Wedding Expo took place at the Plemmons Student Union at Appalachian State University.
Wedding vendors from all around the High Country displayed wares and services to potential customers from 1-4 p.m. Wedding cakes, caterers, dress shops, photographers and more came out to meet brides and their parties, and participants were even treated to a special bridal fashion show in the Summit Trail Solarium. In all, more than 70 businesses and vendors were featured at the expo.
“The Wedding Expo was a lot of fun,” said Amanda Giles who attended the event.
“It was the first one that I had been to, so I didn’t know what to expect. It was just amazing, just the overwhelming amount of information that was there. They had everything from florists to caterers and wedding coordinators, and the fashion show was great! It was a lot of information, but it was very helpful. Seeing all the vendors in one place helped me a tremendous amount.”
The Wedding Expo benefitted the Hospitality House, asking for admission donations of $8 per person or 5 canned goods in place of the donation.
This year’s expo also served as the kickoff event for the Hospitality House Feinstein Challenge, running from March 1 to April 30. Hospitality House has once again partnered with the Alan Shawn Feinstein Foundation, who will divide $1 million among hunger-fighting organizations across America, to help fight hunger in the High Country.
Check out the photos that Bob Caldwell of Bob Caldwell photography captured of all the fun.
