Get ready to run in the Stick Boy’s 2016 Mayview Madness 5K this Saturday, Sept. 3 at 8:30 a.m.! It will take place in Blowing Rock and end at Bistro Roca to refuel and celebrate the awards ceremony. There will also be a Kid’s one mile fun-run, sponsored by Blue Ridge Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine, at 8 a.m. also on Sept. 3.

The 5K will benefit Blue Ridge Conservancy’s efforts to protect and preserve land and water resources with agricultural, ecological, cultural, recreational and scenic value in the area.

Runners who pre-registered are able to pick up a race packet this Thursday or Friday at the Stick Boy Bread Company, which is located at 345 Hardin Street in Boone. Stick Boy Bread Company is open from 7:00 a.m.-6:30 p.m. on MondayFriday and Saturday from 7:00 a.m.-5:30 p.m.

There will be open registry the morning of the race at 7:00 a.m. at the American Legion, located at 333 Wallingford Street in Blowing Rock.

Instead of running in the race, there are also opportunities to volunteer during the event. Help runners register, set up signs along the course and assist with logistics at the finish line.

Volunteers will receive a race shirt, Stick Boy treats and Bald Guy Coffee. If interested in being a volunteer, contact Nikki at [email protected].
