Looking for something new and interesting to try in the High Country? Make your reservations now for the special Downton Abbey-themed dinner coming up at the Green Park Inn on Saturday, April 16.

The Victorian charm of the inn, also known as “the Grand Dame of the High Country,” will play host to this exciting get-together inspired by the popular British-American historical period drama television series and its leading characters, the Crawley family.

The Green Park Inn’s Kerry Hines said the Chestnut Grille has a lot in store for dinner guests.

“I know the show has a pretty big following, so we based a lot of our menus on food from that time period. We’re planning on having our staff dress up, so the servers will be dressed kind of like maids and the guys will be dressed period-appropriately,” said Hines. “It’s going to be fun. We’re going to try to emulate the show and that time period as much as possible.”

The upcoming Downton Abbey dinner party is one of many themed events that are often held at the Green Park, like Murder Mystery weekends, and there’s no better time for added fun at the inn than during the SAVOR Blowing Rock festival, slated for April 14-17 this year.

“We like to do themed dinners during SAVOR Blowing Rock,” Hines said. “We’ve done Great Gastby– and Titanic-themed events before. It’s just a fun time and it’s something different from a typical wine dinner.”
