Beech Mountain Parks and Recreation to Host NatuRally Beech Weekend July 2-3

June 15, 2016. On Saturday and Sunday, July 2nd and 3rd the Town of Beech Mountain will host its first Annual NatuRally Beech Weekend. This naturalist-rally style event will feature naturalist and expert-led programs, hikes, and workshops on our local environment. All programs and hikes with the exception of the Beech Creek Bog Hike will take place at/begin from the Buckeye Recreation Center, 1330 Pine Ridge Road. Bog Hike will depart from the EMO Baselot, across from Beech Mountain Town Hall.

Gone Fishing: Join the Annual Beech Mtn. Kiddo Fishing Derby at Lake Coffey Saturday

June 2, 2016. Itching to hit the water with the kids this weekend? Head up to Lake Coffey in the Town of Beech Mountain for the annual Kiddo Fishing Derby! This fun and friendly competition will take place from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, June 4. You don’t need a fishing license to participate, and, best of all, it’s absolutely free! A Cool 5 Weekend: Races, Fun for the Whole Family at Beech Mountain Set for June 10-11

From a five-mile run to the top of the mountain to a kids’ Popsicle relay and a “walk and wag” for your four-legged friends, A Cool 5 Weekend on Beech Mountain offers races for the entire family June 10-11. In its ninth year, the event includes five races and associated activities. The signature run is the five-mile trek Saturday morning on a challenging course to the summit with 360-degree mountain views. A 1.5-mile fun run/walk and 1.5-mile “walk and wag” also take place Saturday morning.

Beech Mountain Resort will offer skiing deep into March thanks to a late-arriving winter that provided ample amounts of snow and snow-making temperatures in February. “We enter March with peak-season conditions and 100% of our terrain open,” said resort general manager Ryan Costin. “March is generally a good time for skiing because of sunny, clear days followed by cool nights that allow us to maintain snow packs and provide snow-making.” Enjoy reduced rates and lift ticket specials in March, too.

Meet Actor John Voldstad, Who Played ‘My Other Brother Darryl,’ at Retro Ski Weekend

Feb. 10, 2016. Voldstad’s main appearance at Beech Mountain will be an autograph session from 9:30-11:00 a.m. Saturday morning at Fred’s. Fans can meet the actor and receive an autographed photo for $5. Voldstad will make appearances Saturday afternoon with the Carolina Ghostbusters in the ski village at Beech Mountain Resort. He is also scheduled to judge the Madonna Look-Alike Contest Friday night at the Mile High Tavern, and the Totally Retro Apparel Contest Saturday night.
