Napoleon Dynamite Live! Comes to the High Country this Fall BYOT (Bring Your Own Tots)

May 3, 2023 .BOONE, NC – The Appalachian Theatre of the High Country takes its film screenings to new heights with the upcoming Napoleon Dynamite: A Conversation with Jon Heder, Efren Ramirez, and Jon Gries. The September 1 event features a 7:00 p.m. full screening of the 2004 cult film classic Napoleon Dynamite followed by a lively free-form discussion with fan favorite cast members Jon Heder (Napoleon Dynamite), Efren Ramirez (Pedro Sanchez) and Jon Gries (Uncle Rico). The discussion will be moderated by Boone Chamber of Commerce President, David Jackson, and will include insider stories, favorite quotes, and an audience Q & A. Reserved seats start at $35. A limited number of $90 VIP tickets are available which include preferred seating, a signed poster and pre-show meet and greet with the actors.

Appalachian Theatre Celebrates Jazz Appreciation Month with Night of Jazz Event

April 13, 2023 BOONE, NC – April is Jazz Appreciation Month, and the Appalachian Theatre of the High Country is celebrating with its inaugural Night of Jazz concert slated for Friday, April 28 at 7:30 p.m. The collaborative concert event will feature jazz musicians from noteworthy local jazz groups: the Watauga High School Jazz Band, Watauga Community Bands Swing Set Jazz and Appalachian State University’s Jazz Ensembles I and II .Jazz Appreciation Month, fondly known as JAM, was created by the National Museum of American History in Washington D.C. to recognize and celebrate the extraordinary heritage and history of jazz for the entire month of April. Intended to stimulate and encourage people of all ages to participate in jazz, the Appalachian Theatre’s Night of Jazz event provides an opportunity for both artists and audiences of all ages to experience and enjoy an evening of jazz.

BOONE SET TO HOST INTERNATIONAL FLY FISHING FILM FESTIVAL

April 13, 2023 BOONE, NC – The 2023 International Fly Fishing Film Festival, sponsored by Boone’s Fly Shop, is coming to the Appalachian Theatre of the High Country on Friday, April 21. Featuring

February 13, 2023 BOONE, NC – The Appalachian Theatre of the High Country is honoring Black History Month with the debut screenings of two popular, award-winning films at its landmark venue on King Street in downtown Boone, NC. The 2019 biographical film “Harriet” about abolitionist Harriet Tubman will be shown on Thursday, February 16 followed by the 2018 Marvel superhero film Black Panther on Friday, February 17. Each screening begins promptly at 7 p.m. and runs approximately two hours and ten minutes in duration with a general admission ticket price of only $6 per person.

Appalachian State Theatre and Dance Production of “The Moors” Chosen for 2023 Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival

February 2023 will showcase favorite “Rom-Coms” with three film screenings scheduled at 7 p.m. on the first three Tuesdays of the month. “Dirty Dancing” will lead off the series on February 7, followed by “The Notebook” on February 14, and concluding with “Pretty Woman” on February 21.

January 24, 2023 BOONE, NC – The month of January comes to a cinematic close at the Appalachian Theatre of the High Country with a modern version of a much-loved classic novel that has enthralled readers for over two centuries: “Pride & Prejudice.” 
App Theatre Executive Director, Suzanne Livesay, proposed the 2005 film adaptation of Jane Austin’s 1813 romantic drama as the final movie on the eclectic “Staff Pics” series. It will be screened at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, January 31 at the historic theatre on King Street in downtown Boone. The movie runs just over two hours at 127 minutes in duration.
