Blowing Rock American Legion Post 256 is pleased to invite everyone to a special Veterans’ Day Program on Veterans Day Saturday November 11, 2023 starting at 11:00 A.M. at the American Legion Building, 333 Wallingford St., Blowing Rock.
The featured speaker for this outstanding event is one of North Carolina’s most distinguished veterans Lt. Colonel Richard Cantwell (USA Retired). Colonel Cantwell an engineering graduate of West Point with a Masters Degree in Engineering from the University of Texas is a graduate of the Construction Executive Program at Stanford University. Colonel Cantwell is a decorated veteran of twenty years of service in the U.S. army Corps of Engineers.
The Colonel held many key positions including engineering for the U.S. Army Special Operations Command, Command of a 625 man combat engineer battalion on the South Korea 38th parallel, engineering management for Special Operations at Ft. Bragg and Special Operations Engineering for Security threats and counterterrorism. Colonel Cantwell, who is the President/CEO of Odell International, LLC., continues extensive work for our veterans through his service as Chairman of the Board of the Patriot Military Family Foundation. This organization has provided extensive assistance to our veterans who suffer from a number of health issues including Post Traumatic Stress Disorder for which they have provided a number of veterans with service dogs. They have also provided programs for support of military families, scholarships for military children, support for Gold Star Families and homes for veterans.
