Watauga County Public Library Presents ‘Dig into Reading’ Summer Reading Program

Readers of all ages will “dig” reading this summer as Watauga County Public Library presents “Dig into Reading” during their summer reading program, which begins June 12th. Children will learn about birds, gem mining, magic, science, mind reading, reptiles, and more through sto­ries, crafts, music, dance, and other activities. The 2013 Summer Reading Program is open to young people, preschool through young adult, with programs, prize drawings, story hours, and more.  The first program is Birdman Dave on Thursday, June 13th at 11:30 am at the main library and at 2 pm at Western Watauga Branch; he will be teaching birds the joy of reading!

The main library kickoff will be Wednesday, June 12th at 2 pm on the lawn with ice cream provided and music by Eya: Drum & Dance thanks to funding from the Watauga County Arts Council! Pick up your calendar at the library so you don’t miss out! Thanks to the Friends of the Library for their support.

Summer Reading Program Rules                                                                                                        

Sign up begins Wednesday, June 12th                                                                                                         

All ages may participate. Pick up your READING LOG and keep track of your time. Read anything you want. Materials do not have to come from the library. Listening to someone read to you counts as reading time, anything except TV or DVD’s and videos. Record the amount of time spent with books on your reading log. For every 105 minutes a week (or 15 minutes a day) of reading time you may pick a prize; it could be a book, prize or a food coupon!

The Western Watauga Branch is located at 1085 US 421 in Sugar Grove.
