ASU Homecoming Gospel Choir Concert Oct. 5 to Feature Tyscot Records’ Founder and Recording Artist

Oct. 1, 2012. The Gospel Choir at Appalachian State University presents its Homecoming concert Friday, Oct. 5, with featured guest Dr. Leonard Scott of Tyscot Records, the nation’s oldest black owned gospel recording company.

The free concert begins at 10 p.m. in Rosen Concert Hall in the Broyhill Music Center.

Dr. Scott and the Gospel Choir will be accompanied by musicians from the Hayes School of Music and from the Boone community. Alumni of the Gospel Choir will rehearse with the choir at 7 p.m.

A successful dentist in Indianapolis, Ind., Dr. Scott is the founder and president of Tyscot Inc. The company has been home to superstar recording artists John P. Kee & the New Life Community Choir, Deitrick & Damita Haddon & the Voices of Unity, the Rance Allen Group, Dr. Bobby Jones & New Life, the Anointed Pace Sisters, Bishop Noel Jones & City of Refuge, Lucinda Moore and Darwin Hobbs, among others.

Dr. Scott pastors the Rock Community Church in Indianapolis, and has traveled throughout the United States and overseas proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ. He facilitates the annual Harmony Music and Business Conference.

Along with his business ventures and ministry endeavors, Scott has honed his skills as a musician and writer and has recorded several albums. His latest release, “Bishop Leonard Scott Presents My Worship Experience,” is a powerful praise and worship CD that directly correlates with his two books, “Soaring with Eagles” and “Be Lifted Up” published by Evergreen Press. Scott is a staff writer for the Christian Outlook Magazine and host for the radio talk show “Medically Speaking,” sponsored by the Marion County Health Department.

This husband and father of seven children attributes his success to the Lord. His ministry is one of encouragement, instruction, salvation, enlightenment, deliverance, worship and praise. He is a living testimony that nothing is impossible to those who believe and that nothing is too hard for God.
