Two Seminars on Health Care Reform and its Impact on Small Businesses in the High Country To Take Place

By Jesse Wood

Sept. 19, 2012. Two firms specializing in employee benefits will address the impacts of the recently passed Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act on small businesses at two seminars – one on Sept. 26 and the other on Oct. 5.

On Wednesday, Sept. 26, Eben Concepts and Boone Area Chamber of Commerce hosts a “Health Care Reform Seminar” at the Appalachian Enterprise Center, located on 130 Poplar Grove Connected, from 9 to 11:30 a.m.

A description of the event on Boone Area Chamber’s website reads: “What do these changes mean for you. Learn how Health Care Reform impacts you and your organization? What will it mean to your organization and employees in the future? Are you eligible for the small business tax credit? What are the administrative costs and penalties for non-compliance? What are exchanges and how do they affect my organization?”

Eben Concepts is a privately-owned consulting and brokerage firm and has a “vast experience in the employee benefit industry,” according to its website. For more information about this event, email Amy Wilson at aellis@ebenconcepts.com.

The other health care reform seminar takes place at Fairfield Inn in Boone, located at 2060 Blowing Rock Road, on Friday, Oct. 5, from 12 to 2 p.m. This event costs $35 per person and is apart of Crescent Health Solution’s “Eat and Educate: Employment and Health Care Education Seminars.”

A description of this event on Crescent’s website reads: “Learn what impact the Supreme Court’s ruling to uphold the Affordable Care Act will have on employee benefits and your business.”

Crescent Health Solutions describes, on its website, its vision “to be Western North Carolina’s leading resource for network services and innovative health management.” Its mission is to facilitate long-term relationships among providers, employers and employees; foster collaboration regarding health management programs; promote healthy lifestyles; ensure appropriate access to the healthcare delivery system; and manage healthcare costs.
