Sept. 7, 2012. Local photographer Lonnie Webster arrived in Charlotte for the Democratic National Convention on Sunday night and left Thursday night after President Barack Obama spoke in the Times Warner Cable Arena.
For Webster, it was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to frame the convention in his home state alongside Reuters, Bloomberg, CNN, The Associated Press, New York Times and many of the bigger news agencies from around the country.
“For me it was a tremendous experience. One of those bucket-list items,” Webster said. “To be able to go and photograph that and stand shoulder to shoulder with some of the best photographers in the world, that was a great moment.”
