Appalachian Roller Girls Helping to Raise Funds for Local Eric Ford Family; Next Bout is Saturday, June 23

June 12, 2012. If you haven’t been to an Appalachian Rollergirls (ARG) bout, then you are definitely missing out on some great, action packed entertainment for the entire family. ARG is an all female adult roller derby team in Boone N.C. The team is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organzation that always works closely with a local charity or persons in need when they put on a competition as a way to give back to the Boone area community. 

This season the ladies of ARG are undefeated with a record of 4-0. 

The Appalachian Rollergirls will take on the B Messie Smith’s of Chattanooga on Saturday, June 23, at the George M. Holmes Convocation Center on the campus of Appalachian State University (ASU). Doors open at 6 p.m., and the bout starts at 7 p.m. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased online at www.theholmescenter.com or at local retailers in Boone: Black Cat Burrito, Boone Drug at Deerfield and Lucky Penny, as well as Woodlands Barbecue in Blowing Rock. Tickets in advance are $10 and $15 on gameday. Tickets are $5 for students of ASU and Caldwell Community College & Technical Institute with college ID. Fans 12 and under get in free.

The event benefits the Eric Ford family Eric Ford was T-cell lymphoma/leukemia in May of 2012. In an effort to raise money for the Eric Ford family of Blowing Rock, the rollergirls will be having a raffle at the bout (see second flier below). Tickets can be purchased at the bout or in advance from your favorite rollergirl.

“This family needs our support and that of the community. Rollergirls are happy to be helping locally,” said Shannon “Diesel Pusher” Hampton, an ARG skater. Raffle tickets are $1 each, prizes vary from winning a table saw to loads of mulch.
