Brenda McNeill Severt, D. May 12, 2012
Mrs. Brenda McNeill Severt, age 55, of Lansing, passed away Saturday evening, May 12, 2012 at Ashe Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at 2pm at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Billy Joe Blevins officiating. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-9:00pm on Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at Boone Family Funeral Home.

Mrs. Severt was born in Ashe County on Monday, November 26, 1956 to the late Willard and Mabel Elliott McNeill. Brenda was the Branch Manager at Yadkin Valley Bank of West Jefferson until the branch closed.

Then she retired to enjoy time with her husband, Jerry. She was a member of Bristol Baptist Church. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She will be greatly missed by all.

She is survived by her husband, of 34 years of marriage, Jerry Severt; two sons, Justin Severt and wife Summer, of Lansing and Marcus Severt, of Lansing; three brothers, Larry McNeill and wife, Liz, of Lansing, Gary McNeill, and wife Nancy, of West Jefferson and Rick McNeill and wife, Tammy, of Lansing; a granddaughter, Macie Severt; and she was expecting an another grandbaby; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Eyvonne Zola Roark Stewart

Eyvonne Zola Roark Stewart, D. May 12, 2012
Mrs. Eyvonne Zola Roark Stewart age 81, of Creston, NC passed over the threshold to her eternal, heavenly home early on Saturday morning, May 12, 2012. She had been a resident of the Seagraves Care Center in Jefferson, NC. Mrs. Stewart was born on April 26, 1931 in Creston, NC to the late Rev. Keene and Grace Osborne Roark.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at 11:00 am at the Ashelawn Memorial Chapel by Chris Goodman and Rev. Lloyd Day. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday, May 14, 2012 at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel.

Mrs. Stewart is survived by her husband of 63 yrs., Elmer Riley Stewart, two sons: Jody Stewart and wife Katie of Mountain City, TN, Devern Stewart and wife Elizabeth of Mouth Of Wilson, VA, three daughters: Levene Hart and husband Jerry of Mouth Of Wilson, VA, Charlotte McCoy and Benny Wallace of Lenoir, NC, Roberta Campbell and husband Jeff of Flint, TX, one brother, J.B. Roark and wife Connie of Crumpler, NC, one sister, Marilyn Salyer of Jefferson, NC and one sister in law, Geneva Roark of Creston, NC. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren: Michelle Stewart of Mountain City, TN, Angie Norris and husband Billy of Deep Gap, NC, SSC First Class Robbie Mullis and wife Holly of Lenoir, NC, Travis Stewart and wife Allyson of Warrensville, NC, Adam Stewart wife Emily of Creston, NC, Brandon Stewart, of Fleetwood, NC, and Charity Campbell of Flint, Texas. 5 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survive.

She was also preceded in death by her sister, Reba Mains, her brother Mack Roark and her great-grandson Kody Mullis.
Eyvonne was known and loved by many because of her wittiness as well as her giving nature. She enjoyed crocheting, making crafts, gardening, traveling and spending time with her family. She was a Christian lady who loved the Lord and shared His love with others.

She retired from the Ashe Co. School Systems in 1993 and received the Tracy J. Calhoun Award. She leaves behind many precious memories with her family and friends that will be forever be cherished and lived out in their hearts. Heaven now greets a precious saint that will surely be missed here on this earth.

Betty Greer Carpenter, D. May 11, 2012
Mrs. Betty Greer Carpenter age 64, of Lansing, died on Friday, May 11, 2012 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston Salem, NC. Mrs. Carpenter was born on August 8, 1947 in Ashe County to Onnie and Tressie Taylor Greer. Mrs. Carpenter was preceded in death by her Father Onnie Greer and daughter, Wanda Weaver. Mrs. Carpenter attended Gillespie Community Church until her health wouldn’t allow her to go. The family appreciates all the prayers from family and friends during Betty’s illness.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, May 13, 2012 at 2:30 pm at the Ashelawn Memorial Chapel by Rev. Jim Francis. Burial will follow in Carpenter-Fairview Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm on Sunday, May 13, 2012 at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel.

Mrs. Carpenter is survived by: Husband, Denver Eugene Carpenter, six sons, Denver A. Carpenter of Lansing, Richy Carpenter of Lansing, Jamie Carpenter of Lansing, Johnny Carpenter of Lansing, Danny Carpenter of Elkin, Bobby Carpenter of Lansing, one daughter, Becky Darnell of Lansing, her mother, Tressie Greer of Jefferson, three brothers, Darrell Greer of Lansing, Harold Greer of Creston, Ernie Greer of Laurel Springs, also surviving are 16 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Raymond Ellsworth Hill age 79, of Lansing, NC died on Saturday, May 5, 2012 at the Forsyth Medical Center in Winston Salem, NC. Mr. Hill was born on June 5, 1932 in San Juaquin, CA to Raymond and Gladys Smith Hill.

Memorial services will be held on Sunday, May 27, 2012 at 4:00 pm at the Whitetop Faith Lutheran Church by Candis O’Meara.
