In his presentation, “Conflict Without Casualties: Building Cultures of Compassionate Accountability,” Regier will share how leaders and organizations can adapt to change by practicing compassion.

A former practicing psychologist, Dr. Regier is an expert in social-emotional intelligence and leadership, positive conflict, communication, coaching, organizational development, team building and change management.

WHERE: Fairway Cafe, Boone Golf Course, 433 Fairway Drive, Boone, NC, 28607

WHEN: Thursday, October 20, 12-1:30pm.

HOW: Please register online by Oct. 24 here. Price is $15 for lunch and the presentation.

BACKGROUND: Albert Einstein said, “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over, expecting different results.” Drawing from his just-released book,Conflict Without Casualties, Regier will compare the rise and fall of human civilization with the life cycle of an organization.

“When we stay in one place too long, struggling against one another to resist change, things begin to fall apart. When we choose negative conflict, we participate in our own demise by failing to respond to a changing world. There comes a point where course corrections are no longer an option, where the point of no return has come and gone and we’ve doomed ourselves to extinction,” he said.

In this session, Regier will demonstrate how to apply Next Element’s Compassion Cycle of openness, resourcefulness, and persistence to participants’ organization, so they can be perpetually moving, searching, effective, and adaptive instead of risking extinction by doing the same things and expecting different results.

“This session will affirm the positive potential in human beings, and reveal a road map for recognizing where we are and what to do next.”

Regier’s new book, Conflict Without Casualties: A Field Guide for Leading With Compassionate Accountability, will be available for purchase and signing.

Raindrop Inlay Procedure Now Offered at Graystone Eye

The All-New Raindrop® Near Vision Inlay is designed to Improve Near Vision So You Can Once Again See Without the Hassel of Reading Glasses!

HICKORY, October 10, 2016 — If you’re at the age where you need reading glasses to see your phone or read a newspaper, menu, or computer screen, Graystone Eye has a better option: The new Raindrop Inlay procedure.

The Raindrop Near Vision Inlay is a safe way to treat age related near vision loss, or presbyopia. Presbyopia is a condition when your lens loses elasticity, making it difficult to change your focus to see objects up close. Everyone — yes, everyone — will eventually develop presbyopia, and it’s this condition, that leaves many of us reaching for reading glasses in our 40s and early 50s. If simple daily tasks such as using mobile phones, reading a menu, fine print or doing close-up work are requiring reading glasses, Raindrop® may be for you. Approximately 25% of the world’s population suffers from the dependency of reading glasses, and the majority of them dream of not needing them at all.

As of June 2016, The FDA granted approval for the use of the Raindrop® Near Vision Inlay within the United States. Raindrop® is the world’s first inlay to change the shape of the cornea (the clear, front part of the eye) to improve near vision and it is designed to help reduce or eliminate the need for reading glasses. Raindrop is incredibly small – about the size of a pinhead and less than half the thickness of a human hair – and is bioengineered to mimic the natural cornea. The outpatient procedure is easily performed right in the Graystone Eye Refractive Suite, and patients usually return to most of their daily activities the next day.

Raindrop Near Vision Inlay benefits

Raindrop is made of a soft, biocompatible material similar to a soft contact lens, which has similar properties and water content as the cornea. It gently changes the shape of the clear front part of the eye, the cornea. It improves near vision while slightly affecting distance vision in the treated eye. The inlay is transparent and not noticeable when it’s in the eye. Raindrop is well suited for dim light situations as 99.7% of the light passes through it and reaches the back of the eye where the image is processed.

We’re finding that our patients are active people, and they don’t want to constantly reach for – or look for – their reading glasses. We’ve been following this remarkable Raindrop technology for some time, and think it is a very effective solution designed for people who want to reduce or eliminate their reading glasses. The Raindrop Near Vision Inlay has received approval by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in June of 2016, and has been available around the world for several years prior to approval in the US.

Her music is rootsy and alternative folk, with just a dash of those old, haunted country songs thrown in. Since 2013, Rose has called the Carolina mountains home. These days, you can find her playing shows in many of the music hubs of Appalachia, often sporting her trusty, dusty Frye boots and blue electric guitar, affectionately called “Fruit Loop.” Her most recent project, released in April 2016, was recorded in Mountain City.
