Split Rail Records Signs Arson Daily/facebook.com

Since winning the 2015 Battle of the Bands competition at Legends, Arson Daily has continued growing in popularity. After the band made a name for itself around the High Country, Split Rail Records, a student-run independent record label based out of ASU, signed the band for its first LP.

“We decided we wanted to record an LP right around the time we started to record our first EP that wound up not being an EP,” Dunham said. “There wasn’t too much planning for it before Split Rail Records came along.”

The band is especially grateful for the opportunity to work with Split Rail.

“Split Rail Records has been a great label to work with because there are so many people who are willing to help take your project further,” Dunham said.

Although the band worked with students throughout the recording process, the members were highly impressed with Split Rail Record’s professionalism.

“We wouldn’t have been able to do any of this anytime soon without them,” Dunham said.

Since being signed in March, Arson Daily has been hard at work in the studio. You can check out a video of the band in the studio here.

The band’s new album has been made possible by generous donations from fellow musicians and music lovers from around the High Country and North Carolina. Initially setting a $1000 fundraising goal, a third of the total cost of making the album, on its Kickstarter page, Arson Daily has raised over $1,400 dollars as of today.

While that might sound like a sizeable chunk of money, the band will still need to front the rest of the money for recording its album. Here’s how you can help one of the hottest new bands in our community.

The band is excited to show its fans the culmination of all of its hard work in the studio.

“We tracked the album in about three sessions and did vocals in another 3 sessions. There was about two weeks time for mixing, editing, and mastering,” Dunham said. “Overall everything took about a month and half, which is crazy.”

The album was engineered by students in the Hayes School of Music and mastered by Dan Millace of New York City’s Engine Room Audio.

Black Cat

As always, Arson Daily is sure to put on a great show at Black Cat. The band is excited to share the night with their friends in The Remarks.

The Remarks are one of our favorite bands to play with because their sound is so developed. They really know what they want to sound like and they achieve that sound with ease,” Dunham said.

In addition to The Remarks’ superb musicianship, Arson Daily knows that the band will bring its reliable followers out to the show.

“We really enjoy their original stuff, so it seemed natural to ask them to join us on the bill. On top of all of that, we’re just really good friends,” Dunham said.

Arson Daily is planning to show off a few new covers at the Black Cat show. In addition, the members are finishing up a new original that they will play along with the originals included on their new album.

If you aren’t able to make it out to the show, you can check out Arson Daily’s new album on Spotify, iTunes and Bandcamp starting May 6. If you want to purchase some of the band’s merchandise, show up to Black Cat or contact the band directly at dunhamza@appstate.edu.

The Remarks will kick off the night of music and fun at 10:30 p.m. The cover charge for the night will be $5.

Don’t miss out on this chance to catch some new tunes and support one of Boone’s most promising bands!
