The First Annual ‘Blowing Rock Restaurant Week’ Held May 30 – June 8 Offering Fine Dining at Fine Prices

May 28, 2014. Blowing Rock is known for hosting some of the finest dining in the High Country. In celebration, the town is hosting the first annual Blowing Rock Restaurant Week from May 30 to June 8.

During Restaurant Week, participating restaurants will offer specials, including three-course meals from $15 to $30. Offers vary from restaurant to restaurant, so check out the list below for more details.

“We’re trying to create a buzz about Blowing Rock being a culinary capitol,” said Charles Hardin, Executive Director of Blowing Rock Chamber of Commerce.

“Our main objective is to reacclimate seasonal residents to their favorite restaurants. We’re trying to get people out and see the new menus.”

The following restaurants are participating in Blowing Rock Restaurant Week:

The Best Celler will offer three courses for $30.
Founded in 1975, The Best Cellar offers a wide selection of fine dining, including seafood dishes such as calamari and oysters Rockefeller, pasta dishes such as chicken marsala, and other fine dishes such as roasted duck and filet au poivre. In addition, The Best Cellar offers a large selection of wines and other alcoholic beverages. Valet services are available for dinner upon request.828-295-3466

Bistro Roca will offer three courses for $30.
Bistro Roca Restaurant specializes in hand-tossed Neapolitan style pizzas, and French influenced comfort food. The restaurant offers American bistro fare including salads, sandwiches, appetizers, homemade desserts and much more.  Bisto Roca also features the only wood-fired oven in the High Country, created from bricks recovered from the landmark Antler’s Bar.

Blowing Rock Ale House will offer three courses for $25.
Blowing Rock Ale House Restaurant and Brewery offers the feeling of an English pub with the mood of a French Bistro. The Ale House’s chef team of Erick and Jenny Vert graduated from Texas Culinary Academy, also known as Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts, Austin. All menu items are made to order using seasonal, local and organic ingredients when available.

Canyons will offer three dinner courses for $30 and three lunch courses for $15.
Perched on a hilltop, Canyons offers a breathtaking view of Linville Gorge to customers who want atmosphere with their meal. Their menu offers a wide selection of choice items, ranging from salads, soups and salads to southwestern plates, steaks and fish platters. In addition, Canyons has many gluten-free items and a vegan menu.

The Chestnut Grille at Green Park Inn will offer three courses for $25.
The Green Park Inn’s recently remodeled restaurant, The Chestnut Grille, offers comfort cooking with a touch of gourmet in addition to a well thoughtful wine selection. The menu includes fettucine carbonara, watercress salad, herb roasted chicken breast, pulled pork sushi, grilled N.Y. strips and many other fine entrees and appetizers.

The Divide Tavern and Lounge at Green Park Inn will offer three courses for $15.
The Green Park Inn’s Divide Tavern and Lounge has an extensive wine and beer menu and often offers live entertainment. The Divide Tavern and Lounge invites customers to come and relax in the lounge, library or vernada of their newly restored National Historic Register property.

Foggy Rock Eatery & Pub will offer three courses for $20.
The Foggy Rock Eatery & Pub describes itself as “a twist on the ordinary.” Their menu offers a wide, creative selection, including the chicken cordon bleu sandwich, parmesan crusted grouper, Appalachian eggs benedict, pastrami burger bomb and dagwood grilled cheese. A different soup is offered every day, from the Watauga ham & potato soup to the Manhattan clam chowder.

The New Public House & Hotel will offer three courses for $20.
The New Public House & Hotel describes itself as being “at the heart of modern American food.” Their menu offers Southern inspired entrees and a wide selection of local ales, fine wines and seasonal cocktails. They also use local N.C. certified Angus beef and N.C. pork.

Papa Joe’s Italian-American Restaurant will offer three courses for two for $30.
Established in 1982, Papa Joe’s Italian-American Restaurant offers authentic Italian cuisine in addition to many classic American favorites. The menu includes franchisee, marsala, clam linguini, various pastas, carbonara and many other Italian classics, but also includes fried catfish, various burgers, Philly cheese steaks and jumbo hot-dogs

Restaurant G at Gideon Ridge Inn will offer three courses for $30
Restaurant G at Gideon Ridge Inn has an award-winning culinary team that offers a wide selection of menu items, including beef tartare, lamb rack, quail tacos, roasted octopus, crepes, N.C. black grouper and duck breast. The restaurant features a European styled dining room and a view of the surrounding gardens and mountains to give more atmosphere to the dining experience. In addition, meals are created with fresh, local ingredients.

Six Pence Pub will offer three courses for $30.
The Six Pence Pub offers an authentic English pub experience with a wide selection of traditional English and American comfort foods. English specialties include the beef Guinness, fish & chips, bangers & mash and shepherd’s pie. The Pub, of course, offers a wide drink selection, including various specialty coffees and aged alcoholic beverages.

The Table at Crestwood will offer three courses for $30.
Offering a “creative mix of Southern fare with a European touch,” The Table is a fine dining restaurant located at Crestwood Inn. It offers a rich atmosphere and view of the mountains along with a varied menu that includes filet mignon, mussels, fried green tomatoes, and chicken provencal. In addition, The Table has a massive wine selection.

Timberlake’s at Chetola Resort will offer three courses for $30.
Timberlake’s Restaurant, located in the historic Chetola Estate, opened in 2012 with a menu inspired by the favorites of world-renowned N.C. artist, Bob Timberlake. The menu contains everything from Mesquite-dusted shrimp, Carolina-raised trout, roasted Carolina quail, brick-oven pizzas, Angus beef filets and many health and wellness dishes. Timberlake’s is adjoined to Headwaters Pub, which has a breadth of fine wines, cocktails, aperitifs and several craft and imported beers.

The Town Tavern will offer two entrees, two drinks, and an appetizer or dessert for $25.
Established in 2013 on Main Street, The Town Tavern has quickly become popular. It’s a sports bar, boasting a flat screen television and the largest dining area in the High Country. The Town Tavern features famous chicken wings, N.C. barbeque, various burgers, salads, wraps and desserts. In addition, the bar offers various liquors, 10 local craft beers on tap and over 30 bottles beer selections.

Twigs Restaurant & Bar will offer three courses for $30.
Twigs is a fine dining restaurant that attempts to capture the rustic atmosphere of the mountains. The menu offers high quality dishes, “adding a southern twist” on many classics, including mountain trout, dungeness crab cakes, filet mignon and duck confit. Twigs also supports local farmers and co-ops when possible, offering fresh, local, seasonal ingredients.

The Village Cafe will offer three courses for $15 and $20.
Located in a building built in 1907 and added to the National Register of Historic Places, The Village Cafe is marked by its distinctive setting and atmosphere. The dining area contains the largest free-standing fire-place in Blowing Rock and the second floor was once the studio of Elliot Daingerfield, famous writer and artist. The Village Cafe’s menu matches its atmosphere, offering a variety of entrees, including pan sautéed pecan crusted chicken breast, mediterranean vegetable & goat cheese sandwiches and grilled molasses-glazed salmon.

Woodlands will offer three courses for two for $16.
Woodlands specializes in N.C. barbecue pork and ribs, but also features many Mexican dishes as well. Woodlands also features a bar, television sets and dart boards. Live music is performed nightly, adding to the rustic mountain atmosphere.
