Avery Humane Society Holding in ‘9 Lives for $9’ Cat Adoption Event Oct. 19-21; ‘Largest Event Ever Offered’

Oct. 15, 2012. In partnership with Best Friends Animal Society, the world’s largest rescue organization of its kind, Avery Human Society is participating in the 9 Lives for $9 National Cat Adoption Event. They will be offering cats and kittens for just $9 starting Friday, Oct. 19, through Sunday, Oct. 21.

According to Bill Avery, member of the humane society board of directors, this is the largest event ever offered by the Avery County Humane Society. Normally, cats and kittens cost $85, which includes spay/neuter, vetting, shots and a micro-chip for each feline. A private donor has pledged to cover all expenses for this special event and the humane society is excited that Best Friends and Purina encourage and support the program.

“Although we have not formally announced it, we have been a no-kill shelter since August 2011.  Not one single animal has been put down for lack of space,” he said.  He added, “Our new board members and staff are committed to keeping it that way.”

Avery County Humane Society has been recently admitted as a partner to Best Friends Animal Society and in their No More Homeless Pets Network.

This special promotion is intended to draw attention to the county’s homeless feline population and it’s also an opportunity to “be a friend and save a life.”
