July 3, 2012. Appalachian State University football players will celebrate Independence Day with the High Country community on Wednesday when members of the squad take part in Boone’s annual Fourth of July parade.

The Mountaineers will march in the parade in support of the Children’s Council of Watauga. The Children’s Council is the Smart Start Partnership for Watauga County, a state-funded initiative that supports child-care related health and family support services on behalf of children ages 0-5. The goal of Smart Start and the Children’s Council of Watauga is that all area children start school healthy and ready to learn.

Starting quarterback Jamal Jackson is among the Mountaineers expected to take part in the festivities. The parade starts at 11 a.m. at Horn in the West. The route will follow Horn in the West Drive to King Street through downtown Boone to the Poplar Grove Extension.

SEASON-TICKET HOLDERS CAN PURCHASE ADDITIONAL SINGLE-GAME TICKETS ON JULY 25: The Appalachian State athletics ticket office has announced that season-ticket holders will be given the first opportunity to purchase additional single-game tickets beginning on Wednesday, July 25.

Due to great demand for the season’s most anticipated games at Kidd Brewer Stadium, particularly the Sept. 8 home opener versus Montana and the Oct. 6 homecoming duel against Elon, Appalachian athletics will reward season-ticket holders with the opportunity to purchase additional tickets for single games in advance of the general public. Single-game tickets will not be available to non-season-ticket holders until Tuesday, Aug. 7.

Season-ticket holders wishing to take advantage of the offer must do so by phone (828-262-2079) or in person at the ASU athletics ticket office, located in the Holmes Center. Early single-game sales will not be available online.

With a very good chance that tickets for the season’s most-anticipated games could sell out before single-game tickets are available to the general public on Aug. 7, the only way to ensure tickets for games like Montana and homecoming is to purchase season tickets, which are on sale now. Ticket information is available at GoASU.com

STUDENT TICKETS FOR ECU GAME ON SALE AUGUST 20: Appalachian’s allotment of student tickets for the season opener at East Carolina will go on sale to ASU students on Monday, Aug. 20 at 9 a.m. at the Kidd Brewer Stadium ticket plaza.

Appalachian State students with a valid ASU student ID can purchase up to two tickets at $50 per ticket. Student tickets will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis.

The line for tickets will form beginning at 6 a.m. on Aug. 20 and camping out will not be permitted.
