David grew up in Avery County, North Carolina and served his country proudly in the Marines. He and Bonnie had son Joey in 1979 followed by son Matt Cagle in 1980 in Stuart, FL where David was the Golf Professional at Miles Grant Country Club. From then on, David was a family man and father first, hard worker a close second. Golf, fishing and hunting were David’s passions, which he passed on to his sons with absolute enthusiasm. David never turned down an opportunity to take his boys to the lake, golf course or woods.

David spent his career in the golf industry where he was able to do what he loved most, helping people be the best they can be. David worked in the custom club building department for MacGregor Golf and on the Champions Tour for Callaway Golf during their respective years of being at the top of the golf industry. David never missed a day of work and always made sure the professional golfers were able to eliminate any margin for error with their equipment, consistently keeping Callaway at the top of all rankings for products in use.

‘Sweet Bonnie’ was the love of David’s life and the rock he always leaned on. They remained very close, working together for the happiness of others (especially their two children and grandchildren) all the way to the end.

David returned to the mountains several years ago, a place where his heart always was, and enjoyed his log cabin and fly fishing when he wasn’t working or helping others.

He is survived by Bonnie Cagle, eldest son Joey Cagle and granddaughters Katelyn & Emily Cagle, also by son Matthew David Cagle & wife Hannah, his mother Sue Cagle, brothers Roger, Steve, Mark, and Joey Cagle and sisters Cindy Greene and Caroline Hull as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

The family requests any memorials be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Greater Western Carolinas Chapter, 37 Villa, Suite 109, Greenville, SC 29615 OR online @http://www2.jdrf.org/goto/Caglescure in honor of David’s granddaughter, Katelyn Cagle, who has Type1 Diabetes.

A memorial service will be held for David at Minneapolis Christian Church 2730 N US Highway 19E, Newland, NC 28657 (828)733-0883 on Friday, July 18, 2014 at 2:00PM.

The immediate family would like to extend a warm, heart-felt thank you to everyone who has helped and has made themselves available during this difficult time.
