Winners Announced for App Mountain Photography Competition; Exhibition Ends June 2 at Turchin Center

April 6, 2012. Organizers of the Appalachian Mountain Photography Competition today announced the winners of the ninth annual competition.

Dale Forest and his image Grandfather’s View of the Milky Way took top honors receiving the designation of Best in Show. Dale will take home a cash award of $1000 furnished through competition proceeds.

Category Winners acknowledge the top image in each of the seven competition categories. Winners of the Blue Ridge Parkway and Our Environmental Footprint categories will receive cash awards furnished by the Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation and Appalachian Voices, respectively.The remaining category winners receive Mast General Store prize packages.

Scott Hotaling’s image Mount LeConte Winter is the public’s pick in this year’s People’s Choice Award and will receive $350 furnished by Footsloggers Outdoor and Travel Outfitters. Almost 1,900 votes were cast in this year’s People’s Choice Award.
