Feb. 7, 2013. The Watauga County Sheriff’s Office and Watauga Medics responded to an 11:27 p.m. call at 639 Greer Lane in Vilas on Wednesday night, where a victim with a gunshot wound to the chest was found.
William Michael Vann, 36, was airlifted to Johnson City Medical Center in a Wings Air Rescue helicopter, according to Capt. Dee Dee Rominger.
Apparently the incident was a self-inflicted accident with Rominger adding that the Sheriff’s Office is “not looking for any suspects, nor do we have anyone in custody.”
She would provide no other details.
At 10:30 a.m., Teresa Hicks, communications manager with Johnson City Medical Center, said Vann is in stable condition.
