Tweetsie Railroad Extending Hours on Select Nights in July for ‘Cool Summer Nights’

June 18, 2012. Tweetsie Railroad is once again celebrating long summer days with extended hours of family fun on select nights in July during its Cool Summer Nights event. When the sun begins to drop behind the Blue Ridge Mountains, the day turns to dusk and the fireflies begin their nightly performance, guests will see the park in a whole new light.

Tweetsie’s newest program features four special evenings on July 7, 14, 21 and 28. On these dates, the park will stay open until 9:00 p.m. and guests can enjoy a variety of Tweetsie activities – the great rides, attractions, mouthwatering food and, of course, an exciting Wild West train ride behind Tweetsie’s famed steam locomotive. Family fun never ends throughout the streets of Tweetsie Railroad’s very own Western town, where you can experience the long-ago era of cowboys and Indians. Guests can also take a scenic chair lift ride back in time and experience the gold rush while panning for gold at Miner’s Mountain.

“Tweetsie Railroad is a special place for people to enjoy and make lasting memories, so it’s only natural that visitors would like some extra time here during those long summer days,” said Cathy Robbins, Tweetsie Railroad marketing director. “The Tweetsie Railroad staff looks forward to these extended days of family fun and adventure once again during Cool Summer Nights.”

Tweetsie Railroad is open seven days a week through August 19. The park returns to the weekend schedule (open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays) from August 24 through October 28, including Labor Day Monday. The 2012 season ends Sunday, October 28. The park’s regular hours are 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., but will be open until 9:00 p.m. on July 4 and July 7, 14, 21 and 28 for Cool Summer Nights. In addition, the park will be open at 8:00 a.m. both Saturdays (June 2 and 9) for the popular Day Out With Thomas™ event. The Ghost Train® Halloween Festival will take place Friday and Saturday nights September 28 through October 27 from 7:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., and price of admission is $28 for adults and children, with children 2 and under admitted free. Daily admission to Tweetsie Railroad is $35 for adults and $22 for children ages 3 through 12. Children 2 and under are admitted free. Print at home tickets and Golden Rail Season Passes are available at Tweetsie.com.
